Job Description
- We’re on the lookout for a dynamic executive to join our Pride Inclusion Programs team to lead national programs to drive LGBTQ+ inclusion across Australia’s health and wellbeing sector.
- Expertise in service delivery that is inclusive, culturally safe, person centred, affirming, and trauma informed health care is critically important to success in this role. Confidence to discuss barriers, disparities and the social determinants of health is expected of applicants.
- Full-time 76 hours per fortnight based in our Gadigal (Surry Hills) office.

Ok, so what’s the role?
The National Health Lead leads a team supporting inclusive service delivery in the health and wellbeing sector. The key focus of the role is:
- Strategic leadership to develop and expand ACON’s work and influence in inclusive service delivery within health and community care organisations.
- Manage key programs, which will include leading a team of Relationship Managers, participating in division leadership, and collaborating with ACON wide stakeholders to ensure alignment with ACON priorities.
- Business development and stakeholder engagement to drive growth through grants, tenders, and partnerships with government and health and community care organisations.
Who are we looking for?
- Comprehensive understanding of the Australian health care sector including structure, economic and funding models, and the regulatory environment with a focus on primary care.
- Strong experience and/or understanding of the delivery of health care and of clinical practice.
- Business development skills.
What else can we tell you?
- Salary: Starting from $122,559.84 (Gross Annual Salary PLUS Superannuation and Leave Loading)
- Location: ACON’s Gadigal (Surry Hills) office, with some flexible working options a possibility (away from the office).
- Hours: Full-Time (76 hours per fortnight) on a fixed term contract with the possibility of extension.
- Salary Packaging up to $35,000 gross up value (i.e., currently up to $15,900 Expenses + $2,650 Meals, tax free).
- Generous pro-rata leave entitlements – including up to an extra week of paid leave for full-time employees to be taken during our Christmas and New Year’s shutdown period.

Essential – Health understanding & Experience:
- Comprehensive understanding of the Australian health care sector including structure, economic and funding models, and the regulatory environment with a strong focus on primary care provision Awareness of sectoral issues including funding constraints that influence service delivery and organisational capability within the health sector.
- Experience or understanding of the delivery of health care and understanding of clinical practice to a level necessary to achieve the program’s KPIs.
- Experience engaging with General Practitioners, General Practices and other stakeholder in the primary care setting.
Essential – LGBTQ+ Understanding & Experience:
- Comprehensive understanding of LGBTQ+ people and communities, including specific issues faced by LGBTQ+ people in health care provision.
- Strong understanding of and commitment to working with ACON’s communities, including all LGBTQ+ people and people living with and affected by HIV.
Essential – Leadership & Managerial Skills:
- Entrepreneurial mindset with extensive experience in developing and implementing of business development and growth strategies, including both the responding to externally issued tenders, RFPs and grant opportunities, and generating PIP-initiated proposals to secure new partnerships and revenue, demonstrated capability in networking, lead generation, and end-to-end development and presentation of high-quality proposals.
- Demonstrated experience in project management, including planning, risk management and reporting.
- Experience leading and managing teams including providing clear direction, supervision, coaching and performance management to deliver outcomes while maintaining engagement and cohesion. Proven experience In recruiting, onboarding and building team capability, fostering an inclusive and positive culture, and supporting staff in change management.
- Training and presentation skills with the ability to engage all levels of leadership.
- Ability to research, interpret and build communications and resources from evidence.
- Strong organisational capability and ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship building skills, particularly within health.
Desirable:
- Qualifications or experience in Public Health.
- Qualifications in HR, L&D, OD, Change Management or Organisational Psychology.
- Consulting or Relationship Management experience.
