What’s ACON’s Peer and Client Services?
The Peer and Client Services division works alongside LGBTQ+ people to support their health and wellbeing through one-on-one or group interventions. Our community-led service offerings bring together a deep understanding of LGBTQ+ communities and meaningful, tailored support. Whether through peer work, counselling, care coordination or group work we create safe, affirming spaces where people feel seen, heard, and supported.
Ok, so what’s the role?
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone looking to make a difference for the communities we serve.
ACON provides services to people living with HIV, people affected by or at risk of HIV, and sexually and/or gender diverse people aged 18+ across NSW. As a Team Leader within Peer and Client Services, you will be responsible for both people leadership and service quality and performance, while maintaining a small clinical caseload.
You will lead and supervise a diverse team of care coordinators and counsellors, ensuring consistently high quality, trauma informed and client centred practice. You will drive service performance, foster learning and accountability, and contribute to the leadership of Peer and Client Services in Sydney.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for an experienced Team Leader who is ready to step into a meaningful role where your contributions will have a direct impact on our community.
In this role, you will:
- Provide supportive leadership to a team of care coordinators and counsellors, including regular supervision, reflective practice and debriefing.
- Lead service quality and performance, including monitoring KPIs, contributing to reporting requirements, and driving continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Champion workforce capability and growth, supporting staff through ACON’s Learning & Development framework and coordinating Professional Development Processes aligned with clinical standards and organisational priorities.
- Actively lead team meetings and contribute to broader unit, organisational and quality improvement forums.
- Plan, deliver and evaluate counselling and care coordination services to ensure alignment with ACON’s Impact Strategy.
- Support best practice service delivery, ensuring staff effectively apply ACON’s model of care and evidence-based approaches for diverse client needs.
- Contribute to policy and practice development for counselling and care coordination services.
- Ensure high quality data and record keeping, guiding your team to accurately collect and maintain client information.
- Build and strengthen sector partnerships, working closely with primary health care providers, community agencies and specialist services to ensure that all clients are provided with a comprehensive range of options and referrals.
- Maintain a small caseload providing short term, solution focused counselling and care coordination
What else can we tell you?
- Salary: $112,257, Gross Annual Salary (PLUS Superannuation and Leave Loading)
- Location: ACON’s Gadigal (Surry Hills) office, with some flexible working options a possibility (away from the office).
- Hours: Full-Time (70 hours per fortnight) on a 2-year fixed term contract with the possibility of extension.
- Salary Packaging up to $35,000 gross up value (i.e., currently up to $15,900 Expenses + $2,650 Meals, tax free).
- Generous pro-rata leave entitlements – including up to an extra week of paid leave for full time employees to be taken during our Christmas and New Year’s shutdown period.
